Why board instead of glaze tonight
Glass can be replaced the same night or the morning after. Boarding buys time when the opening cannot wait for daylight, when the frame or hardware is damaged as well as the pane, or when you need photographs and an itemised invoice for an insurance claim. Once the opening is boarded and secured, the permanent repair (new glass, a sealed unit, frame work, or hardware fixes) is planned and quoted separately.
What we fit
We fit a secure timber or composite panel over the opening from outside, cut to size and sealed so it will not shift or rattle. The boarding closes the room, keeps the weather out, and stops anyone getting in or climbing through. It looks industrial because it is. The board stays in place while the permanent repair is arranged (by us, another glazier, or while you wait for an insurer’s approval).
From board to new glass
When we board, we note what the permanent repair will need: replacement glass, a sealed unit, frame repairs, or hardware fixes. If you want us to finish the reglazing, we work from the price you were given on the call. If your insurer is involved, we supply before-and-after photographs and an itemised invoice; they decide what is covered. The new glass goes in once you give the word.
What happens when you call
- Tell us the postcode, the room affected, and how the window is reached.
- We give you an arrival time and a price for the boarding and the permanent repair, on the call. We attend nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- The engineer boards the opening and checks the reglazing scope matches the price you were given on the call.
- If you want us back to finish, we book the work. If you need insurer approval, we give you the photographs and invoice.

Questions
Can the board stay up for weeks?
Yes, it’s secure and weather-tight. But it’s temporary. The new glass or frame work is the permanent fix. Book it once you’ve had your quote.
How much does boarding cost?
You get a clear, free quote on the call. The price covers boarding and the permanent repair (glass, frame or hardware) so you know the full cost before we start.
What if my insurer needs approval first?
You get photographs of the damage and the boarding, plus a cost breakdown. Send those to your insurer; they decide what is covered.
